Magic Mountain Coupons Mean Great Savings for Roller Coaster Lovers!

July 26th, 2011

According to an article published in Sunday’s Independent, a news blog in the UK, Six Flags Magic Mountain, near Los Angeles, has just broken the global record for the most roller coasters in one park. The record of 17 was broken when Magic Mountain introduced a new themed coaster based on the DC Comics hero, The Green Lantern. For the thousands of people intent on riding this new landmark coaster, Green Lantern: First Flight, it is good to know that Magic Mountain Coupons, which allow tremendous discounts off the standard park admission price, can be found online.

Green Lantern: First Flight, which opened on June 30, is the very first roller coaster in the United States that follows a vertical track — riders move up 107 feet into the air and then begin dropping down the structure following an 825-foot track. In order to compensate for the lack of side-to-side movement, the individual pods on Green Lantern actually spin passengers independent of the track. Each pod can spin up to three 360-degrees! The article stated: “Before boarding the eight-person pods, guests pass through two “pre-show” rooms which give instructions on how to overcome anxiety and become as fearless as the story’s legend, Hal Jordan, the first Earthman to ever join the Green Lantern Corps.” With the opening of the Green Lantern, Six Flags Magic Mountain now boasts 18 roller coasters — more than any other theme park in the world. The coasters range in theme from Batman and Superman to Looney Tunes!

Family Turns Theme Park Savings into a Nation-Wide Tour of Six Flags Theme Parks

July 22nd, 2011

A Southern California family that is passionate about roller coasters is being sent on the ultimate all-American summer vacation: a coast-to-coast road trip to visit Six Flags theme parks across the country, compliments of Discover Card. According to Business Wire Kurt and Michelle Dahlin’s mutual affinity for roller coasters began when they were young and has blossomed through the years. Now, their sons are huge fans as well. The Dahlins are annual Six Flags season pass holders and frequent visitors to Magic Mountain. As season ticket holders the Dahlins no doubt took advantage of special online theme park savings, purchasing their season passes with their Discover Card.

“The Dahlins will have a wonderful time visiting these spectacular parks,” said Jeff Portugal, V.P. of Corporate Alliances, Six Flags. “Magic Mountain is, of course, home to the most coasters on the planet.” The report went on to say that the Dahlins were scheduled to visit Six Flags Over Texas where they will ride the new Texas Giant, reportedly the smoothest wooden coaster in the country. They will then travel on to Six Flags Over Georgia to ride the new Dare Devil Dive coaster, and to Great Adventure in New Jersey to ride the new Green Lantern stand up coaster. The family plans to finish their trip by cooling off in Riptide Bay at Great America in Chicago.

Green Lantern, First of its Kind Ride in the U.S., is the Perfect Addition to Magic Mountain

July 21st, 2011

Brady McDonald, staff writer for the Los Angeles Times, recently was fortunate enough to get an advanced test-ride on Green Lantern: First Flight at Six Flags Magic Mountain, near Los Angeles. McDonald said that “The ride looks tame enough from the ground, but the new ride packs a wallop once you climb onboard! My advance test ride left me feeling like a villain on the receiving end of a superhero’s right hook: Wham! Boom! Kapow!” The article went on to point out that the new-concept, fourth-dimension vertical coaster is a completely different experience depending on whether you’re facing forward or backward.

Eventually, the rocking and spinning Green Lantern cars will be allowed to rotate more freely after the initial test-and-adjust phase, adding an extra layer of intimidation to an already exciting ride in the coming weeks. McDonald said: “Magic Mountain has done a beautiful job of adding a graphic-intensive, comic book theme to the redubbed DC Universe with oversized superhero marquees, including a 25-foot-tall Green Lantern cutout character. Green Lantern, a first-of-its-kind ride in the U.S., is the perfect addition to Magic Mountain’s record-setting arsenal of 18 coasters — the most of any amusement park.” Green Lantern is now open to the public.

Six Flags Coupons Help Theme Park Attendance Rebound in 2011

July 19th, 2011

There was an interesting story in the Carroll County Times in Maryland about theme park discounts. Karen Silverman, in her column Coupon Corner said consumers should be on the lookout for promotional cans of Coca Cola that contain special coupons. “Take the Coke can to the ticket booth at Six Flags America in Bowie and receive one adult general admission ticket for the price of a kid’s ticket. You’ll pay $34.99 instead of the regular adult price of $54.99.” Silverman goes on to write: “When I checked out the ticket prices, I found that you can get the same deal when you buy tickets online, without the Coke can.”  This is true, Six Flags coupons are available online and you can download specific coupons for each of their many properties.

Another news story from Mintel states that due to both the recession and record high gas prices, theme park attendance saw a five percent drop in 2009 and 2010. Revenues, however, are expected to increase in 2011. The report said that “Teen respondents are about three times more likely than adults (70% vs. 23%) to have visited a theme park in the last 12 months and tend to be drawn to Six Flags, which boasts some of the country’s ‘fastest, tallest, wildest, heart-pumping rides.’” No doubt Six Flags coupons have also helped boost this increased attendance.
